Bring Doc Ock to Work Day by silver-sehkmet Bring Doc Ock to Work Day by silver-sehkmet
Reason number 345987 why we all love Doctor Octopus: He can kick everyone else's ass.

I work at a bank. No one wants to give me their ID to cash their checks. I'm sorry, but it's bank policy. If I don't know you, I have to write your ID on the back of the check to give you monies. Is this SO hard to understand? I have to deal with shit like this, or real similar to this, on a daily basis, and it sure would be nice some days to have an Octopus on your side. Let's hear it for everyone who deals with utter crap at their jobs everyday! :cheer:

Why isn't it a real holiday? :cries:

I should have him come to work with me. Do you know how much frozen yogurt people almost purposely dump on the self serve machine trays!?

I did a polite homage to this picture once. But in retrospect I should have illustrated a different workplace problem for Otto to solve for me:

Customer on laptop: "It was a dark and stormy night..."

Otto: "Now I know I am probably interfering with your career as the next Truman Capote, but the wifi spot is for customers only...and unfortunately, you, who have sat here for three hours without ordering anything, are not in that group!"

What do you say, Otto? You'll like Starbucks...

What *I* don't get is why one branch of my bank makes me swipe my ATM card to cash checks and another one requests my ID. (And it's not like the one who requests ID doesn't have the proper tech to swipe the card. I saw the machine sitting right there.)

It's discrepancies that make me wary and not want to give out my ID. 'Cause I don't know who is following policy and who isn't. I don't know who to trust.

It's probably because every banking corporation has it's own policies rather than having one universal system (which would make way more sense). For example, M&T requires two IDs to cash checks if you aren't an account holder with us. However, no two banks appear to use the SAME forms of ID, so you can imagine the earful we get every time we gotta explain the policy. Over. And over. And over again.

I hate it.

But it's the exact same bank both times. Wachovia. It's just different branches. The one branch is in Dupont Circle (near my work), the other is in Silver Spring (near my home). That's the part I don't get.

Man, I wish I'd have had him when I worked at Target. And Wal-Mart. And, of all places, the flippin' *library*.

Working at the customer service line for the Post Office, this comic is sadly so true.

Man, can I borrow the Doc? It would sure help with the people at my job. :D
